Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works with NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a wide range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and the arms control. Mitchell travelled along with President Ronald Reagan many times to summits and debate issues such as and the Iran Contra controversy.
